The Gardener

Ingredients (For One Drink)

Gardener Syrup

• • ~2.5 Tbs cilantro tops

  • ~1 Tbs fresh peeled ginger

  • ~0.5 Tbs serrano pepper

  • 12-oz simple syrup (must be chilled)

Cocktail

• • 1-oz Gardener Syrup

  • 1-oz lime Juice

  • 2-oz spirit of your choice (gin, tequila, mezcal)

Preparation

• • Make the simple syrup.  An easy way is to combine sugar and boiling water in a ball jar.  Close the lid, shake until the sugar is dissolved.  Chill.

  • Combine cilantro, ginger, pepper, and simple syrup and blend until a puree

  • Strain syrup through chinois or strainer. This should give you about 12oz of the Gardener Syrup

  • Combine 1-oz lime juice, 1-oz of syrup, and 2-oz of spirit to shaker.  Shake for 30 seconds.  Strain into coupe or martini glass

Notes

• Make sure the simple syrup is cold when you put it in the blender, as if it's not it could discolor the syrup.

• Refrigerate for up to 3 days, then freeze.   Tip: freeze 1-oz portions in an ice cube tray
