Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies


    • 1 Cup Butter - Softened
    • 1 Cup Brown Sugar
    • 1 Cup Granulated Sugar
    • 2 Eggs
    • 1 Tsp Vanilla
    • 1 Tsp Baking Soda
    • 1 Tsp Salt
    • 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder
    • 2 Cups Flour
    • 2 Cups Old-Fashioned Oats
    • 2 Cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
    • 1 Cup Chopped Walnuts or Pecans (Optional)


    • Beat butter until softened. Add sugars and beat until well creamed and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Sift together the dry ingredients, and add to butter mixture. (I normally cheat at this point, and add the soda, salt, and baking powder directly to the butter mixture, mix in thoroughly, and then add the flour, without sifting!) Add oats, mix well, and then stir in the chocolate chips and the nuts (if desired).
    • Drop by teaspoons onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a 350° oven for 6 to 8 minutes or until lightly browned
