Surprise Meringues


    • 4 Egg Whites
    • 1/4 Tsp Salt
    • 1/4 Tsp Cream of Tartar
    • 1-1/2 Cups Sugar
    • 2 Tsp Vanilla
    • 12-oz Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips
    • 1 Cup Chopped Nuts


Beat egg whites until soft peaks are formed. Add salt and cream of tartar. Add sugar gradually and continue beating until stiff peaks form. Fold in vanilla. Then fold in chips and nuts. Drop by teaspoon onto cookie sheet lined with a brown paper sack. Bake in a 300° oven for 20 - 25 minutes. Remove from paper when cooled.
