Ingredients
- 1/2 stick of butter
- 1 yellow onion - coarsely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic - minced
- 1 red bell pepper - julienned
- 1 orange bell pepper - julienned
- 1 pacakage of bratwurst
- 1 beer (IPA)
- Buns (optional)
- Ketchup/Mustard (optional)
Preparation
- Bring grill temperature up to ~400 degrees F
- Melt butter in cast iron skillet over direct heat, then sautee the onion until it starts to caramelize
- Add two cloves of garlic, sautee for 2-3 minutes
- Add bell peppers, sautee for 3-4 minutes
- Add the bratwurst and beer. Simmer over direct heat for a few minutes. Flip the brats, continue to simmer for ~5 more minutes
- Move the pan to indirect heat. Simmer for a while to cook down the beer, flip the brats once more
- Once beer is mostly reduced, not completely, move the brats to the grill over direct heat for 2-3 minutes on each side. Return to the pan and they are ready to serve
