South Carolina Mustard Sauce
Ingredients
1 teaspoons dried rosemary
1/2 teaspoon celery seeds
1 teaspoon chicken bouillon granules (or 1/2 cube crushed)
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 tablespoon dry mustard
1 teaspoons onion powder
1 teaspoons garlic powder
3/4 teaspoons kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 cups yellow ballpark-style mustard
~2/3 cup water (adjust as needed to reach desired consistency)
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1-1/2 tablespoons ketchup (or tomato paste)
1/4 teaspoon Tabasco Chipotle Sauce or your favorite hot sauce
Preparation
Crush the rosemary & celery seeds in a mortar and pestle or in a blender/coffee grinder. Transfer to a bowl, add remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly
Pour the mixture into a saucepan and bring to a simmer. Cook for 5 minutes. Taste and adjust the seasoning as you wish. Storing it overnight in the refrigerator helps meld the flavors
